I'm a big fan of Columbian author Gabriel García Marquéz. I came across a poem that I thought he wrote while being treated for cancer. It was about how he would live life differently if he had more time. I was inspired to write a song based on the poem. I later found out that the poem was written an obscure Mexican ventriloquist named Johnny Welch for his puppet, Mofles. Gabriel felt the poem was cheesy and lamented the fact that it was attributed to him.
